Pandemic Wedding Planning
Being an event planner for more than a decade, I've learned that in order to truly have a successful event you have to understand each client's specific needs. That has never been more true than in 2020.
Finding the right balance between social distancing and celebrating with your loved ones is different for each and every wedding and event. While we’d all love to resume back to “pre-Covid” conditions, we still have County and State guidelines and the ever changing CDC recommendations for events. Some of our couples have chosen to postpone events for later dates, while we’ve helped others devise unique ways to still celebrate life’s big moments.
Check out a couple of our recommendations and alternatives for a safer and modified event.
We know…. We’re sick of all the zoom meetings too. Zoom elopements however may give you the perfect opportunity to still share your ceremony with loved ones across the globe without limiting it to just 10- 50 attendees. This allows the high-risk loved ones to participate in a risk-free atmosphere.
This option was embraced by one of our brides to preserve the original date, while rescheduling the reception for a later date. At the reception we’ll still be exercising other precautions that we’ll mention later on.
Another great option is to have a small elopement with those that matter most! A recent couple chose the elopement route in Sedona, Arizona. Their gorgeous wedding allowed for some jaw-droppingly beautiful photos and a more intimate ceremony with just family and close friends.
There are numerous upsides to elopements that include smaller guest lists, more opportunities to customize gifts and pictures, as well as timeline flexibility. To read more about elopements, check out this blog post from Fully Alive photography about our recent Sedona Elopement.
A socially distanced and masked-up event outdoors will be the closest Covid-friendly substitute for the typical wedding. There are several different ways to modify the event such as smaller guest lists, fewer chairs and more distance between tables, custom masks and hand sanitizer favors, and more.
As I said before, no two events can or should be exactly the same! Even with socially distanced events, you can still add the zoom option for out of town guests uncomfortable with travelling or even a live-streamed event for elopements. The world is constantly changing and the way we celebrate can adapt as well. I’d love to help you navigate the new world of weddings in 2021.
